Support Our Troops!
Goal: We aim to combine the practice of recycling with supporting our troops. In its second year of operation, the group gathers recyclables from the school and deposits them in a club Clynk account. The money is used at the end of the year to send various items to troops in a specified unit.clynk.jpg 100_0905.JPGHistory: Last year the group was founded by Briana Bianchini. At the end of last year, 27 boxes were sent out.

Below are a few examples of items sent out last year:100_0839.JPG100_0897.JPG

The Way We Get By: The Global Action Club has teamed with other school groups to decide to show "The Way We Get By" film to the school and the community. We believe it is an inspiring look into the support of our troops and our elderly. It tells the story of a group of people who gather to greet troops coming into or leaving Bangor. The link is below:
We found our first unit to sponsor from Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon. Thank you Alan Krutchkoff and everyone at Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon for helping us get this project rolling!

Cell Phones For Soldiers

Many soldiers are unable to have contact with their families while serving in Iraq. Cell Phones for Soldiers is an organization founded to change this. By simply turning in old cell phones into the box in the Yarmouth High School Office, you are making a difference. Cell Phones for Soldiers takes all the phones donated and gives them to ReCellular, a company that recycles these phones for cash. This cash is then used to purchase calling cards that are shipped overseas for the soldiers to use to call home! Please make a difference by donating any old phones that you have and encouraging family and friends to do the same. We can all contribute to make a difference for our troops!
